* How To Adopt

Why Adopt?

Every year thousands of healthy dogs end up in dog pounds through no fault of their own, these dogs if not quickly reunited with their owners may be destroyed within a matter of days for no other reason than the pounds have no room for them. This is where rescues come in; every day dog rescues all over the country rescue dogs from pound death rows and care for these dogs until loving new homes can be found for them. By adopting a rescue dog you are giving it a second chance, a chance to enjoy a happy life in a loving environment - something it may never have known. Also, every dog adopted from us gives us room in our kennels or with our fosterers to rescue more dogs and save more lives.

Adopting a dog can be both a challenging and a rewarding experience. Many of these dogs have not known a loving home for some time, some never have. Winning the trust and affection of these dogs can take time and patience but having that dog return your love, seeing it grow and flourish in its loving new home is incredibly rewarding.

The Adoption Procedure

Once you have found a dog you feel you would like to adopt (our dogs available for re-homing can be found here) you will need to follow the adoption procedure below.

* Complete the Pre-Adoption questionnaire(which can be found here).
* Contact Mill Rescue on 01205 460481 or 07843 560051 or by email at enquiries@millrescue.co.uk to discuss the dog you wish to adopt.
* Mill Rescue will then arrange for a home check where a Mill Rescue volunteer will visit you in your own home to ensure it is suitable for the dog you wish to adopt.
*

After the home check is complete you and your family (and any other dogs you may have) will meet with your chosen at Mill Rescue.

* Should you wish to proceed with the adoption, on payment of the adoption fee and completion of the adoption form you may take your new dog home.
